Welcome to the New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy (NYAGRA)

The New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy was the first statewide transgender advocacy organization in New York. Founded in June 1998, NYAGRA led the campaign for the transgender rights law enacted by the New York City Council in 2002 and secured inclusion of gender identity and expression in the Dignity for All Students Act enacted by the state legislature in 2010. NYAGRA published the first public directory of transgender-supportive health care providers in 2009 and has provided hundreds of transgender sensitivity training sessions to a host of different organizations from health care and social service providers to corporations, government agencies and community-based organizations.
